‘Silver Cross Explorer Sport’ is Silver Cross’s innovative Group 1 and 2, forward facing car seat which will ensure your little one has the safest, comfiest ride on every journey. Explorer Sport is very easy to use and comes packed full of lots of features that will keep you and your little one very happy. Silver Cross Explorer Sport is an approved Group 1 and 2, forward facing car seat which is suitable for babies from 9-25kg, which is approximately from 9 months to 6 years. Rest assured Explorer Sport will provide your baby with all the comfort and support you’d expect as Explorer Sport comes with an adjustable head support; Explorer Sport’s headrest and harness move simultaneously with each other to keep your child correctly restrained with growth. For a child from 9-18kg, you can Explorer Sport with the 5-point harness; but when your child reaches 15-18kg, the 5-point harness can be removed, and the 3-point adult belt can be used to attach the car seat whilst the child’s seated in the car. Explorer Sport offers great value for money because of this feature, as it will exceed the Group 1 boundary, and grow with your child to become a Group 2 car seat, until your child reaches the weight of 25kg. Explorer Sport boasts a deeply padded seat, which is fantastic for side impact protection – again, the adjustable head rest will support your child’s head and provide extra impact protection for your baby’s delicate head. Explorer Sport’s 5-point harness will keep your baby fitted securely and the energy absorbing chest pads which will help take the impact of sudden breaking or movements. Explorer Sport’s unique 3-position crotch strap means you can easily move the crotch strap into a position that is most comfortable and snug for your little one. Silver Cross Explorer Sport has a handy one-handed recline system, which will allow you to recline your snoozing little one into one of the 5 reclining positions – ideal for long journeys and younger babies. Silver Cross Explorer Sport is very easy to install into the car, and will provide a snug fit into your car’s seats. Please be aware however, that not all car seats fit all cars, and it is important to check compatibility and fitting before you travel your little one in the car. Our View… is that Silver Cross Explorer Sport is great value for money, as it can convert for your child, as your child grows. We like that it can adapt to a Group 2 car seat, and that the seat is very padded and snug. Some parents have commented that fitting the Explorer Sport in the Group 1 stage can be tricky for the first time, as the seat features no tensioner to assist installing the seat in your car, unlike many other Group 1 car seats. Secondly, although Explorer Sport may seem good value for money, the seat will only take the child up to 25kg, and not the last stage of a car seat, which is Group 3. By law, a child must be in a car seat until either the weight of 36kg or the height of 136cm; so you will still have to purchase a Group 3 car seat until your child can legally use just the car’s seat and belt. Please not that many car seat manufacturers will actually combine Groups 2 and 3 anyway, so it may just be easier to purchase a Group 2/3 car seat (15kg-36kg) straight after using Explorer Sport as a Group 1 car seat.
