‘Mamas and Papas ISOFIX Base’ is a handy base for your Primo Viaggio IP infant carrier, to give parents a peace of mind about the car seat’s correct fitting and also provide an unmovable, perfect fit for ultimate security.
The ISOFIX base is designed to attach to the ISOfix fixings in each of your car’s rear seats – fixing quickly and easily to the anchorage points – aiming to minimise the risk of incorrect installation. The ISOFIX base is very easy to install; there are hinged attachment arms to accommodate for different car models and the varied ISOfix anchor points, so you attach the arms to the anchor points, slide the ISOFIX Base closer to the seat after fitting and then put in place the single, adjustable support leg to reduce any further movement and act as an anti-rotation device in the event of an accident.
For ultimate safety and security, the two sets of red/green indicators inform you when the base is correctly fitted and when the Primo Viaggio infant carrier is successfully installed.
The Primo Viaggio will instantly and simply ‘quick-drop’ with the Mamas and Papas ‘one-click system’, into the ISOFIX Base, and the low profile Base makes attaching the car seat that bit simpler.
Releasing the ISOFIX Base is just as easy as attaching it; you simply use the one-handed release lever to remove the ISOFIX Base from your car with total ease.
Our View… is that the Mamas and Papas ISOFIX Base is both convenient and useful for parents who are on the go constantly, and do not have time to keep installing their Primo Viaggio infant carrier with every use.
However, for parents who have the time to install their infant carrier using the conventional belt, we would highly recommend not buying the ISOFIX Base. There are actually mixed views in the nursery industry regarding ISOfix bases, due to the fact that some movement in the event of an accident is actually required. In the event of a rear-end collision for example, it would be more desirable to gain some movement in the infant carrier’s installation, so that the car seat and belt takes most of the impact and not the child in the infant carrier. An ISOfix base in this circumstance would be so rigid, that infant carrier would not move, so the child inside would take most of the force during the accident.
Furthermore, some parents have complained that the Mamas and Papas ISOFIX Base actually sits their baby too upright in the infant carrier due to its position on the car’s seat, so please try the ISOFIX Base in your car, if you can, before you buy.
