‘First Wheels City Twin’ is a dynamic, fun and adaptable twin pushchair, made by the Dutch company First Wheels. You could say that the design of the product really reflects the origin of their country and in some respects they are rather ‘Bugaboo-ish’ in their style.

First Wheels City Twin as a Pushchair…

The First Wheels ‘City Twin’ is designed as a ‘side-by-side’ twin pushchair, which has totally separate seats which operate individually, enabling two children to travel together in their own individual comfort – ideal for kiddies when they’re in their troublesome twos! Both children can sit facing forward or facing you, or alternatively, one can face forward while the other one faces you – the possibilities are endless! 

The ‘City Twin’ seats have got three reclining positions for your child’s comfort – and both seats are suitable from birth. Although, if you are just using the City Twin’s pushchair seats from birth, we would recommend putting in some sort of liner or footmuff, as the seats aren’t overly padded.

What many parents and nursery retailers love about City Twin is the funky, fresh and fun colourways that City Twin comes in. City Twin really does stand out from other pushchairs – and this is how we think it has some resemblance to the Dutch manufacturer Bugaboo, who has a very unique looking style.

First Wheels City Twin’s Chassis…

The ‘City Twin’ has a cleverly designed chassis that is both robust but quite light-weight for a double pushchair. The City Twin’s chassis is incredibly easy to fold – and although quite bulky, it is relatively light. Please note that the City Twin’s pushchair seats do need to be removed before folding – which can be tiresome for some parents. However, the advantage of having singular seats is that the City Twin’s pushchair seats can face you or away, which is incredibly rare for a double ‘side-by-side’ pushchair.

For convenience, the First Wheels City Twin’s lightweight aluminum frame can stand independently when folded; and the ‘City Twin’ is one of a very few ‘side-by-side’ twins that have that capability – so that’s another rather unique feature of the City Twin.

First Wheels City Twin also boasts lockable front swivel wheels, unique sprung suspension (although some say this feature is rather poorly designed) and pneumatic rear tyres which does gives the First Wheels City Twin a comfortable, smooth ride and great maneuverability. 

Handily, the City Twin does come with a very generously sized shopping basket, a free rain cover and an adjustable handle bar – you simply push in the buttons located near City Twin’s handle, and select the height which best suits you. 

First Wheels City Twin as a Pram…

The ‘City Twin’ also has the ability to accept one or two carrycots which most retailers sell separately. The great thing about City Twin is that you tailor your pushchair to suit your needs. You could easily purchase one carrycot to use for your newborn baby, and then just use one pushchair seat for an older child. 

The City Twin’s carrycots couldn’t be easier to attach – you simply ‘quick-drop’ the carrycot into the frame and you’ll hear a reassuring ‘click’. For extra safety, there is a bar that automatically attaches to the City Twin’s carrycots, which is located underneath the carrycot once attached to the chassis.

City Twin’s carrycots come inclusive of rain covers, hoods, mosquito nets and aprons, so they are snug and ready for your little ones.

Our View…is that City Twin is a very unique and funky product, which fills a niche in the market – there are simply hardly any twin ‘side-by’side’ pushchairs that have independent rear and forward facing seats and have the ability to attach carrycots.

Sadly however, the City Twin does have some negatives; it is a bit wide and awkward as it sometimes will not fit through doorways. Also, it is slightly disappointing that it doesn’t have the ability to take infant carriers on the chassis, as the single version of the City Twin – the City Elite – can. Also, the City Twin pushchair seats are arguably quite small compared to some twin pushchairs, like the Out ‘n’ About Twin Nipper for example, but this is mainly owed to the fact the seats are independent and reversible. However, the City Twin’s carrycots are not very generous on size either, putting off some parents from purchasing them. 

Those points aside, the First Wheels City Twin is very adaptable, and with independent reversible multi positional seats and the ability to accept one or two carrycots, the City Twin is a product that will suit many parents.
